The Chickadee

October 1, 2018

I awoke one early, spring morn’.
When the air was cool and crisp.
And the golden sun was just peeking over the mountain tips;
Making them look like shimmering, golden swords of valiant knights.

And as I stared to go back to sleep.
I heard a loud PEEP.
It came from the window so I went to see,
And before my eyes sat a chickadee.

And he started to sing.

“Listen here, listen here, listen here and you will hear.”
The song of the chickadee:
“Twee-Dee”
“Twee-Dee”
“Twee-Dee-Diddle-Dee”

And since I had not one thing to do,
I sat with him and sang the morning through.
