The Orphan Girl Therese

December 1, 2016

No alarm needed for a little orphan girl named Therese. She woke up early every morning and immediately slid off her bed and onto her knees. She prayed the same prayers daily, Lord, if it’s your will please let me be adopted today.

Therese shared a room with six other little orphan girls. She was the oldest of all the girls and felt she had to take care of them. She would wake the other girls up and help them make their beds. Then, they would all head down to breakfast together. There was sixty-five children in the orphange and all of them loved Therese. There were ten caregivers in the orphange and they all disliked Therese.

Therese taught the children about God and how He loves each and every one of them. The caregivers got so angry with her because they felt she was giving them false hope. When they knew a family was coming to the orphanage looking to adopt, they would spend the day doing hard work and in silent prayer. One day while they were all in silent prayer, Therese overheard the caregivers talking about her. She heard them say that she was teaching the girls to do this so that they were tired and not healthy looking, that way she would look more apealing to the families looking to adopt. This made Therese so sad.

After a few different families came and went, the caregivers noticed that Therese was never around; she would go into hiding. One day they called Teresa in and questioned her. Therese would tell them she was not feeling well. The next time it happened and they questioned her she would tell them she was busy cleaning.

Therese’s prayer routine stayed the same but her prayers had changed. She was now praying in the morning that all of the young girls would get adopted. She also prayed very hard for all the women who took care of them to convert.

One day a family came and saw Therese cleaning outside of the orphange. They went in and ask about her. A meeting was set up and after speaking with the little girl, the family fell in love with her and her genuine love for all people. Therese was adopted that same day!

Months went by and the caregivers started to notice that the children were not happy. They were not praying. They were not playing.  The children were so lonely. They had a group discussion and it was decided that every morning the orphange would start with morning prayer. Soon after that, the caregivers started taking all of the girls to Mass. Therese’s prayers were answered and the women were converted. The children were not lonely any more because they had a relationship with our Father in heaven.
