The American Bulldog is a well-built and strong-looking dog, with a large head and a muscular build. It usually has brown eyes and comes in brown, grey, or white brindle. It can be 60 to 140 pounds. This dog was known for bull-bating in 1802 and working on farms. They are also known for their ability to pull heavy weights. The American Bulldog is a very “bully” dog. They got the name “bulldog’ for the bull-bating and also because of the bulldogs aggressive attitude toward some people and its bull-like appearance. The American Bulldog will devote its life for its “pack” or family such as his owners. This dog is very loving and a good family dog if trained well when still a puppy. This dog is generally ok around other dogs and animals, and usually does not start fights.
The American Bulldog can be mistaken any day for a pit bull. How to tell the difference? The Bulldog has a broad chest, a box-shaped head, and has wrinkly skin. The Pit Bull has no wrinkles, a much smaller chest, and its head is shaped more like a pear. The American Bulldog has a tendency to like small children. Though these dogs tend to be sweet, different personalities can change that completely! I tend to like the smaller dogs even though these dogs are sometimes very sweet.
