St. Elizabeth of Hungary

St. Elizabeth of Hungary was born in 1207.  She married the landgrave Louis IV in 1221.  St. Elizabeth is known for her generosity to the sick and poor.   After the death of her husband, she joined the Franciscan tertiaries.  She died at the young age of twenty-four in 1231 and was canonized four years later in 1235.  Her feast day is November 19.  Saint Elizabeth is the patron saint of beggars and bakers.
