My “Vacation” in Africa

May 1, 2017

(I had to write a small paper for history about how I vacationed in a foreign country, so here it is!)

Today is the hottest day of the month here in Africa. I almost got trampled by elephants yesterday, and last night I couldn’t sleep because of the bats and snakes in my mat and around my head. My breakfast this morning consisted of raw grasshopper with hawk sauce, and brown–not yet purified–river water. I broke my knee trying to find my shoe I lost yesterday. And when I tried to find a doctor, a gorilla kindly informed me that the nearest doctor was 5 miles away. It ended up being 50. I was supposed to be taking pictures of my trip, but every time I picked up my camera, monkeys grabbed it or I got chased away by tigers and bugs as big as my hand.
Oh! I forgot to say they had free ice-cream too! It was made with crushed up grubs and gorilla saliva. They called it berry delight. I’m taking a plane back the U.S. tomorrow. Supposedly, this was supposed to be a vacation but my trip turned out to be anything but fun!
